The new incarnation of MSTC's Founder and Beloved Teacher, Sermey Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tharchin was recently recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama:
(an email composed by Wilson Hurley and sent out to MSTC's friends and students on Friday, June 11, 2010)
We received wonderful news from Venerable Jampa last night that His Holiness the Dalai Lama has recognized the re-incarnation of our beloved teacher and founder of MSTC, the late Sermey Kensur Lobsang Tharchin Rinpoche. He is now three years old, almost four. We have not received much more information about him, but I hear that Geshe Lotar is writing up the details for us, so we'll share that as soon as we receive it.
Meanwhile, I'm sure you'll share my delight in knowing his emanation body has again manifested. How kind that he has returned to help us all!
Also, I thought you might want to consider the invitation from Art we received inviting everyone to join a long-life ceremony for Khen Rinpoche, all our teachers and for the longevity of the Dharma in the world (see below). I hear that Art wrote it before hearing the news of His Holiness's recognition of Khen Rinpoche's incarnation.
Dear Dharma friends,
As most of you will recall, in past years it was a custom to celebrate Khen Rinpoche’s birthday every summer in the beginning of July. At that time, we would recite a short version of the Sixteen Arhats’ Puja, followed by a birthday celebration. The ritual has a special connection with Sera Monastery and it is typically performed to promote both the longevity of one’s Lamas and the flourishing of the Holy Dharma.
This year we have decided to perform a slightly more extensive version of the ritual this coming July 4, which falls on a Sunday. The prayer recitation will be led by the monks at Rashi Gempil Ling Temple and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Following the recitation, we will have a picnic lunch on the grounds of the temple. We invite you will join us on this occasion, not only to pray for the continued success of the Dharma but also as an opportunity to visit and enjoy a meal with fellow Dharma students. Please feel free to bring along any family members or friends that you think might like to come.
In order to make the recitation more meaningful, we have asked Geshe Wangdu to give a class on Sunday June 27, beginning at 12:00 noon. He has agreed to go over such topics as the structure, purpose, and benefits of the ritual. Everyone is, of course, welcome and encouraged to attend this class as well.
If you would like to help with food or any of the preparations, please call the temple at 732 364-1824 or my home at 732 367-5898.
Looking forward to seeing you all,
Art Engle
